14/09/2019

Cadillac has just unveiled its new CT4 and CT4-V luxury models that truly challenges BMW sedans in terms of performance. See the details of the new car here!

After all these years, it is surprising for us at NaijaCarNews to see that Cadillac is still very much in the game of beating BMW when it comes to high-performance luxury sport sedans.

The newly unveiled 2020 Cadillac CT4 follows the launch of the 2020 Cadillac CT4-V which many auto enthusiasts believe its more of a downgraded version of the impressive ATS-V. Now that this new 2020 CT4 is around, it is more fit to be called a successor of the ATS.

To some extent the naming convention seems like a weird alternation of each model starting with letter “A” now produced and name with “C”. However, the CT4 really does align well with the Cadillac lineup of 4-door sedans all the way up to the CT5 and CT6 flagship models.

The global design chief at Cadillac, Andrew Smith when commenting on this new 2020 CT4 sedan said that;

"We developed CT4 to appeal to youthful buyers in the luxury market who may be new to the Cadillac brand,"

"The vehicle was intended to draw attention, using a combination of great proportions, taught surfacing and Cadillac family details that hint at the athletic driving experience this vehicle offers."

Cadillac claims that this new 2020 CT4 will be made available on sale in 4 different trims which are: V-Series, Sport, Premium Luxury, and Luxury.

Casual drivers would probably find it appealing that Cadillac preserved the rear-wheel-drive system in this new CT4 especially the fact that it would be relatively easy to just shift to a front-wheel-drive as the car is going to be priced just a little above million ($30,000) and they could also order for an all-wheel-drive configuration.

On the other hand, the rear-wheel-drive will be totally exciting and perfect for auto enthusiasts. In fact, Rob Kotarak – Cadillac’s chief engineer made some comments about it. He said;

"Cadillac is dedicated to building the most exhilarating sport-luxury sedans,"

"Every element of the CT4 is designed to bring innovative technologies right to the driver, providing discerning driving dynamics with cutting edge precision."

The new 2020 Cadillac CT4 and CT4-V luxury sports sedan will come with 2 engine options as follows;

  • The base CT4 trim gets a 2.0L twin-scroll turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that outputs 237hp with 258 lb-ft of torque paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission
  • While the top-end CT4 and the CT4-V trim will get a 2.7L four-banger “Dual-Volute Turbo” engine that outputs 325hp and 380 lb-ft of torque in the CT4-V model” and 309hp and 348 lb-ft of torque in the CT4 “Premium Luxury” trim.
