New cars like the revived BMW 8 Series and the Porsche Panamera have taken over the modern sedan segment of the global auto market but Mercedes has finally joined in now with its new 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door sedan.

This is the new and hot 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door sedan

2019 Mercedes-AMG GT power & features

Just as many Mercedes fans would already know that Power has never been an issue with vehicles from the brand. Every single AMG engine has always been a “work of art” as well as an enjoyable and torquey “ode” to the technology of internal combustion.

This new Mercedes 4-door GT comes in 3 similar flavours: GT 63 S, GT 63 and GT 53. The model GT 53 makes use of the new Mercedes’s 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 engine that delivers 429hp at a 6,100 rpm and 384 lb-ft of torque somewhere between 1,800 rpm and 5,800 rpm. The Mercedes starter-generator (EQ Boost) that is mounted between the transmission and the engine of the car accounts for 21 lb-ft of low-end torque as the turbos on the other hand spool up.

Both the GT 63 S and GT 63 uses variants of the AMG’s 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers 577hp or 630hp from 5,500 rpm to 6,500 rpm and 590 lb-ft or 664 lb-ft of torque both at a 2,500-rpm rate. This new sedan literally replaces the Mercedes CLS 63 in the brand’s lineup.

The GT 4-door 2019 comes with 2 different setups of suspension. They are presented as;

  • AMG Ride Control (includes adaptive dampers and steel springs) - Standard in the GT 53
  • AMG Ride Control+ (with adaptive dampers and multi-chamber air suspension) – GT 63 S and GT 63

The Ride Control+ is made optional with the GT 53 models while the active engine mounts come with the GT 63 S and help adjust the firmness based on the chosen drive mode. These type of engine mounts were made optional however on the GT 63 models.

The 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT versions that come with V8 engines by standard also comes fitted with electronically operated rear-axle steering and a limited-slip differential. The model GT 53 features a pure mechanical limited-slip and optional rear-axle steering as well.

The new 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT has got some aesthetics that can get buyers attention outrightly

All of the new GT’s variants come with a composite type if front brake discs that have 6-piston fixed callipers although, only the GT 63 S and GT 63 have a composite type of rotors in their rear. Also, all the GT 4-door sedans possess active aero with active shutters in their grille and an active rear wing as well. They all also feature adjustable type of drive modes which includes;

  • Individual
  • Sport+
  • Sport
  • Comfort
  • Slippery
  • RACE mode on the GT 63 S model (this is only optional on the non “S” version)

These modes help to adjust the vehicle’s steering, suspension, shifts and throttle response smoothly to suit the drive terrain. A driver can easily select these drive modes by just a toggle located on the sedan’s centre console or by using a pretty much “Porsche-like” type of knob on the vehicles steering wheel (only with the GT 63 S). Just opposite this knob, you get 2 configurable buttons capable of being programmed to use in adjusting settings in the car such as the stability control, suspension and the exhaust.

2019 Mercedes-AMG GT stunning interior deco theme

It is a totally different scenario when it comes to the interior of this new 4-door Mercedes-AMG GT 2019. On a frank note, it is just stunning. It has got a wide and sweeping dash that is accented with bight metalwork, wood, leather, and soft accent type of lighting. Mercedes also offers yellow seat belts or carbon-fibre trim if you dig such things. The air vents, knobs, and buttons all look and feel premium.

The inside of the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT – Isn’t it just likeable?

The new GT also features what Mercedes calls “Dinamica” which is a Faux suede that wraps the rim of the sedan’s steering wheel (flat-bottomed). The wheel of this new GT also features some capacitive controls for its digital instrument cluster as well.

In this new Mercedes-AMG GT sedan, you get a really great rear cargo area. Just like the Kia Stinger, Audi A7, and Porsche Panamera, the new GT 4-door is also a hatchback type of car.

  2019 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ - Beautiful Fast Car!

The Porsche Panamera is currently the only closest competitor to this new GT. Just like this AMG, the Porsche Panamera is a GT (grand tourer) that masquerades as a roomy hatchback. The two cars aren’t going to really “WOW” you with their exterior but the 2019 Mercedes-AMG GT’s interior definitely puts the Panamera’s own to big shame.
