Anambra road crash kills 10, injures others

10 passengers have been confirmed dead in an auto crash involving three vehicles, among which, is an articulated vehicle. The road accident was reported to have occurred in Agulu, Anaocha LGA Anambra State.
Reports reaching Naijacarnews say the articulated vehicle which was loaded with heavy metals had a brake failure while passing through the road, and crashed into a private car and commercial bus, killing 10 people on the spot.

The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, was said to be at a state executive meeting and when notified about the accident, abandoned the meeting and rushed down to the scene. An eye witness said other passengers that sustained injuries were taken to a nearby hospital named St Joseph, for immediate treatment.

The Governor, after inspecting the crash scene left for St Joseph Hospital, Adazi Nnukwu, to see the injured passengers.
According to a government source,
Consequently, he directed that a barricade be erected on the road to avert such accident in future.
The spokesman for Anambra State Police Command, in the person of SP Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the auto crash and gave a word of caution to motorists, saying, they should endeavor to inspect their car thoroughly before hitting the road and also to avoid over speeding.
