Heartbreaking!!! FRSC records at least 1,618 deaths from road accidents in a span of just 3 months

Out of 21,577 people who got involved in car accidents in just 3 months from December, 2018 to February,2019, at least 1,618 deaths were recorded by FRSC.

NaijaCarNews.com just as many Nigerians really felt a heartbreak getting this recent update from the Federal Road Safety Corps as they released a report that records at least 1,618 deaths between the periods of just December in 2018 and February in 2019 (just 3 months).

According to this Road Traffic Crash report, more than 21,577 people have been recorded to be involved in various road accidents involving trailers, tankers, trucks, motorcycles, minibuses, buses and cars.

Much further analysis revealed the top 5 causes of these road accidents to be:

  • brake failure
  • tyre burst
  • dangerous driving
  • wrongful overtaking
  • speed violation

This report also revealed that the Kaduna-Abuja road is the most prevalent in all the cases of road crash fatality within those periods that had been review.

Similarly, the Abuja-Lokoja, Kaduna-Zaria, and Lagos-Ibadan roads were as well identified as roads with high road crashes record.

Some part of the report says;

“There is a need to conduct a workshop on vehicles safety education as well as safe usage due to the high involvement of cars, minibuses and motorcycles in crashes.

“As a matter of fact, the Corps needs to step up enforcement on overspeeding or initiate a high-powered technology to detect and stem the tide of overspeeding as part of operational activities,’
