Hyundai just found a way out, as it has created a digital key app that controls cars with a mobile phone.

The digital key app created makes use of near field communication which makes it possible for a car and phone to communicate when they are at close range. When the car is unlocked with the smartphone, the engine gets to be powered with the device, which is placed on a wireless charging pad while the start and stop button on the dashboard is pressed.

Four persons can make use of the app when they save one another's personalized driving settings. Once a connection is made between the smartphone and car, the car's steering wheel, seats, and mirrors will adjust automatically based on the user's specifications.

When a Bluetooth Low Energy communication is used, the Hyundai digital key can as well lock and unlock the car, turn the alarm on and start the car from a distance. Each user can have tailored access to the different functions in the vehicle for a certain period.

Hyundai developed the app with the intention of it becoming a car sharing scheme. However, the app can enable a deliveryman to open up the boot and deliver a package.

Car sharing is gaining much ground globally, so, the digital key app will be coded to enable an easier peer-to-peer car rental. The car owner and driver will have no need for meeting each other, the digital key can be transferred through the phone app. The app also features an alert which will come on if the driver renting the Hyundai car drives above the speed limit or outside an area that wasn't agreed on.
