Young hackers hit jackpot winning ₦135m and a car from Tesla

Two security researchers have recently won themselves a sum of ₦135m and a brand new Tesla electricity car after successfully hacking the Model 3.

Little did they know that they were soon poised to be rich. Innovation has always paid off whether as a researcher or as an automaker. This is what has raked in billions of dollars for many automobile giants over the years. Recently, we were made to understand here on Naijacarnews that researchers cracked the Tesla Model 3 in a hacking competition and won a sum of ₦135 million and a brand new electric car from the company.

The Model 3 by Tesla that was hacked by two security researchers as part of Pwn2own Vancouver hacking event. This award has earned them a sum of $375,000 (N135m) as cash price with a brand new electric Model 3.

The unique skill of the duo, Amat Cama and Richard Zhu (Fluoroacetate team), on the Tesla Model 3 infotainment system and taking control of the entire system through the rendition of a JIT bug.

The initiative behind the Pwn2own hacking contest is designed to help young hackers to showcase their skills and earn themselves cash prices by finding weakness or flaws in the commonly used web browsers and softwares. The competition was held on the 20th to 22nd of March, 2019 in Vancouver.
